According to the data issued by steel trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), in January-February this yeardeliveries of rolled steel products to the Ukrainian domestic market increased by 39 percent year on year to 1.027 million mt.
In February of the current year, deliveries of rolled steel products in Ukraine increased by 35.9 percent year on year and rose by 3.3 percent month on month.
In January-February this year, the share of imports in the Ukrainian domestic rolled steel product market amounted to 21.9 percent, down from 24.8 percent in the same period last year.
The biggest increases were seen in deliveries of cold rolled sheet, channel and rebar, rising by 57.7 percent, 52.1 percent and 45.6 percent year on year respectively in the first two months of this year. Of the total rebar deliveries, 93 percent were shipped to metal trade companies.
During the first two months of this year, UGMK noted the increase of the share of ‘other rolled steel products' in total rolled steel product deliveries in Ukraine to 32.8 percent from 28.2 percent in the same period last year.
In January-February this year, Ukraine's biggest consumers of rolled steel were the metal trade sector, shipments to which amounted to 26.3 percent of total rolled steel product deliveries, followed by the pipe sector, with its share of overall consumption in the domestic rolled steel market amounting to 25.3 percent, and machine building, with a share of 20.4 percent.
