Italy's Riva group has announced an investment of over €100 million for the construction of a hot dip galvanizing facility at its subsidiary Ilva's steel plant at Novi Ligure, located in Piedmont in northeastern Italy. Production operations are expected to be commenced by November 2009.

According to Riva, the new facility will be equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology. In addition, in order to ensure raw material for the new hot dip galvanizing line, Riva will be making a additional investment in the cold rolling line at Novi Ligure in order to raise its annual production to 2.35 million metric tons, i.e. up 25 percent with respect to its current yearly output.

Furthermore, the new HDG line will produce widths greater than 1,600 mm - for the automotive sector. Thus, it will be integrated perfectly with Riva's production from its Cornigliano site in Genoa, which will produce widths less than 1,600 mm.
