Peruvian rebar sales in April abruptly fell to 2,144 mt, from 109,438 mt in April 2019, as Peru continues a nation-wide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to data from the nation’s statistics agency, INEI, Peruvian rebar sales in April also fell sharply from 45,082 mt in March this year. Peruvian rebar sales reached 118,776 mt in January, and 117,049 mt in February this year.
Peru will remain in a lockdown until the end of June, despite growing Covid-19 cases. Peru ranks as the sixth country with the most confirmed cases, just behind the UK, even though the South American country adopted an early lockdown in March 16.
Peruvian rebar sales in the accumulated period of January to April totaled 283,051 mt, 35.3 percent down, year-on-year, due to the steep month-on-month declines seen in March and April, as a result of Covid-19.
