Peru’s iron ore production falls in January

In January this year, Peru's iron ore production amounted to 522,443 long tons (530,827 mt), down 3.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to Peru's Energy and Mining Ministry.

The ministry also announced that for the whole of 2011 the country's accumulated iron ore production was 7 million long tons (7.1 million mt), marking growth of 16.02 percent compared to the previous year.
