Paul Wurth’s coke oven gas injection system to help Tata Steel to cut emissions

German plantmaker SMS Group has announced that Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has ordered a coke oven gas injection system from its subsidiary Paul Wurth to install at its blast furnace No. 1 at its Meramandali plant in Odisha.

The system, which will be one of a kind in India, will allow Tata Steel to reduce its coke consumption and carbon emissions. Paul Wurth will be responsible for the equipment supply, engineering and implementation of the project.

The project is scheduled to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2026, with construction is expected to be completed within 25 months.
