Panzhihua Steel’s Xichang Gangfan mill produces vanadium slag

On December 26, Xichang Gangfan Steelmaking Plant, a subsidiary of Sichuan Province-based Chinese steel producer Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group (Panzhihua Steel), successfully produced 20 mt of vanadium slag at its vanadium-recovering converter furnace No. 1. The vanadium slag in question contains 17.5 percent vanadium pentoxide.

The furnace in question, which is the largest vanadium-recovering converter furnace in China, has a designed annual production capacity of 150,000 mt of vanadium slag.
