Finnish stainless steel producer Outokumpu has announced that operations in Röyttä harbour in Tornio, Finland have been restarted despite the continuing of the stevedores' strike. The loading and unloading of ships is being carried out with the help of sub-contractors. With this arrangement, Outokumpu is able to secure stainless steel deliveries to customers and the import of raw material. Some customer deliveries are transferred to railway and road and transported via Sweden.

Outokumpu has stated that, with these arrangements, it is able to continue the production of ferrochrome and stainless steel and ensure that customer deliveries are carried out as planned. At the moment it is expected that the financial impact from the strike will not be significant.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Outokumpu had announced that the strike in Röyttä harbor in Tornio had started to impact its operations. The company had been expecting production stoppages, causing loss of €1 million per day.
