Ohio plant fires up ovens for ISG coke

Sunoco affiliated Ohio-based supplier Haverhill North Coke Co. will begin supplying International Steel Group (ISG) with coke in March. Haverhill fired up its recently completed battery of 100 coke ovens on Tuesday, February 15. The coke from the ovens, whose first batch will be ready in March, will be used to supply ISG. ISG plans to supply 550'000 tons of its annual coke consumption from the plant. Haverhill also seeks approval to begin construction on 100 more coke ovens, which would be ready in 2006. If the Haverhill's expansion plans are approved, ISG would consider supplying 1.1 million tons of coke from the plant.
