OECD annual inflation rate picks up to 1.4 percent in October

The annual inflation rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries increased to 1.4 percent in October this year, compared to 1.2 percent in the previous month, according to the latest figures. 
 
Excluding food and energy, annual inflation decreased slightly to 1.7 percent in October, compared with 1.8 percent in September.
 
Compared with the same month of 2015, annual inflation increased in October 2016 in Japan to 0.1 percent from -0.5 percent in September. In October, annual inflation increased to 1.5 percent in Canada, up from 1.3 percent, rose to 1.6 percent in the US, up from 1.5 percent, and grew to 0.8 percent in Germany, up from 0.7 percent, all month on month. In the given month, annual inflation was stable in France at 0.4 percent and decreased in Italy to -0.2 percent, down from 0.1 percent, and declined in the United Kingdom to 0.9 percent, down from 1.0 percent, all month on month.
