North American rig counts continue to rise

According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending August 19, the US rotary rig count increased 15 from the previous week to 1,974. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 323 rigs.

Additionally, US oil rigs were up by 11 last week (up 411 year-on-year) and US gas rigs rose by four (down 85 year-on-year).

The Canadian rig count is up by 22 in the last week and is now at 486, representing a year-over-year increase of 107 rigs.
