Russia-based, largest global palladium and nickel producer Norilsk Nickel and German company PMD are considering the construction of a new modern turn-key casting and rolling complex for the production of steel grinding balls in Norilsk, the northernmost city in Siberia.

Accordingly, the new casting and rolling complex would be cost-effective, would use scrap as raw material, and would include a new direct current electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, a continuous caster, and two ball-rolling units. The production capacity of the new complex would amount to 30,000 mt of steel grinding balls per year.

The preliminary cost of the project would be €30 million.
