NLMK Q3 production results

The Russian company, Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), announced its third quarter production results on Wednesday, October 11. According to the company release, during the period in question NLMK increased pig iron production by 17.6 percent, crude steel production by 5.9 percent, slabs production by 16.9 percent, CR production by 0.8 percent, HDG output by 94.6 percent, pre-painted steel by 26.1 percent, NGO steel by 24.5 percent, and GO steel by 20.8 year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.5 million, 2.2 million, 850,000, 465,000, 112,000, 92,000, 92,000, and 37,000. However, the plant's HR production saw a 31 percent decrease to 361,000 metric tons during the same period of time. NLMK's Danish subsidiary, DanSteel A/S, saw a rise in its heavy plates production by 12.2 percent year on year to 96,000 metric tons in the third quarter of 2006. As for the company's mining division, for the third quarter 2006 period NLMK increased iron ore concentrate output by 8.3 percent to 2.9 million metric tons, sinter ore output by 73 percent to 346,000 metric tons and coking coal output by 7.3 percent to 678,000 metric tons year on year.
