The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced that its subsidiaries have successfully completed the registration of their products as required by Regulation EC No. 1907/2006 (REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals)) planned for 2010.

Registration numbers and all necessary confirmations have been received from the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) for the pig iron, ammonium sulphate and coal tar produced by Novolipetsk, and for ammonium sulphate and crude coal benzene produced by Altai-Koks.

"Complying with European Union registration procedures for chemical substances allows NLMK group to continue to export the above-listed products freely to the European market after December 1, 2010," reads NLMK statement, adding that it plans to continue its REACH regulation compliance activities for the entire mix of the group's products delivered to countries belonging to the European Economic Space.

The EU market accounted for 22 percent of NLMK group's overall sales and 21 percent of its revenues in Q3 2010.
