The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced the signing of an equipment supply agreement with Austrian company Andritz AG.
According to the agreement, Andritz will supply two new rolling mills to modernize NLMK's grain and non-grain oriented steel rolling mill at the company's main production facility in Lipentsk and for the modernization of the reversing grain-oriented steel-rolling mill at NLMK's subsidiary VIZ-Stal.
In addition, Andritz will supply a HDG line with a production capacity of 300,000 mt to NLMK. The new line will also enable the production of zinc-coated rolled steel products which can be further processed into pre-painted steel.
The new equipment, worth €90 million, will be installed in 2008-2009 as a part of NLMK's second phase of its Technical Upgrading Program.
