Kashira Plant of Coated Steel (KZSP), located in Kashira near the Russian capital Moscow, held its official opening ceremony on August 20, 2008.
The new plant includes a HDG workshop, and shops for the processing of thin cold rolled and coated steels as well as for the production of some types of steel hardware.
Although KZSP commenced operations in May 2007, until April 2008 the plant was engaged in steel processing only. The HDG line commenced production in April of the current year and, starting from August 1, has been operating at designed capacity.
KZSP plans to produce thin HDG coils with thicknesses starting from 2 mm. The feedstock for production will be purchased from Russia's three main producers NLMK, MMK and Severstal. Meanwhile, KZSP plans to import thin feedstock, i.e. 0.2-0.35 mm material.
