In January-September this year, NLMK-Long Products, a division of Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), saw a 3.8 percent year-on-year decrease in its sales to 1.2 million mt of steel products.
Accordingly, of its total sales, 966,000 mt of longs were delivered to the Russian domestic market - up 16 percent, including 758,000 mt of rebar - up 11 percent, 41,000 mt of wire rod - up 25 percent, 142,000 mt of metalware - up 19 percent, all compared to January-September 2009. In general, sales to Russian consumers amounted to 83 percent of NLMK-Long Products' total shipment for the period in question, as demand from the domestic construction sector picked up.
