Russian steel giant NLMK Group has announced that it has reached five million mt of slab shipments to be used in high quality large-diameter pipe production to Russian steelmaker Vyksa Steel Works, a subsidiary of Russia-based OMK Group.

As of 2012, NLMK produces slab at its Lipetsk plant, while Vyksa Steel Works processes these slabs into heavy plates and large-diameter pipes.

“An integrated pipe production chain developed by OMK and NLMK enabled us to displace imports, and supply Russian energy companies with top-quality goods. Russian-made large-diameter pipes are used in the construction of large-scale international and Russian gas and oil pipelines,” said Eduard Stepantsov, head of commercial department of OMK Group.
