The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced the completion of the modernization of the continuous casting machine (CCM-4) with an annual production capacity of two million metric tons located at its main production site in Lipetsk.

The modernization of the CCM-4 allows NLMK to increase the speed of slab treatment by 20-30 percent and also to maintain the high quality of produced products. The curvilinear two-strand machine can cast steel at a speed of up to 1.6 meter/min into concast slabs of 200-260 mm thickness, 800-1,850 mm width and 4,500-11,500 mm length.

NLMK invested Ruble 250 million in this project, which was implemented in cooperation with Siemens VAI.
