The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced the completion of modernization works and the commissioning of production at its new high capacity continuous slab caster (CCM-6).

The caster's modernization has resulted in the increase of its production capacity by 1.2 million metric tons to 2.5 million metric tons of slabs per annum.

CCM-6 is able to produce 200-250 mm thick, 900-1,850 mm wide and 5,100-12,000 mm long steel slabs of various grades.

The project, which cost NLMK Ruble 4.2 billion ($170.3 million), has been implemented in cooperation with Siemens VAI and is in line with the second part of NLMK's Technical Upgrade Program.
