New continuous slab caster commissioned at JSW Steel

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that the new continuous slab caster No. 4 has entered service at Indian steel producer JSW Steel's Toranagallu steelworks in Karnataka.

The single-strand caster installed at JSW Steel's steelworks No. 1 has an annual production capacity of 1.4 million metric mt of slabs, ranging between 800 mm and 1,600 mm in width and with a thickness of 220 mm. With the new slab caster which was installed as part of an ongoing expansion program at JSW Steel, the total capacity of steelworks No. 1 increased to 4.2 million mt. JSW Steel operates four continuous slab casters at its steelworks No. 1.
