Latvian company HRC Libau plans to build a new coking facility with an integrated power plant at Liepaja (Latvia), producing electricity from recovered waste heat without additional CO2 emissions. Investments are estimated at €170 million.

According to the company's plans, the new plant is to process about 450,000 mt of coal per year and is to produce up to 310,000 mt of coke annually.

The local authorities in the southwestern Latvian city of Liepaja have endorsed HRC Libau's plan to build the new coke plant in the port city. The project is expected to be completed in 2013.
