Motor vehicle sales in Australia up 7.8% in August

According to the latest estimations released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in August this year new motor vehicle registrations in Australia amounted to 92,701 units, increasing by 0.5 percent month on month and up 7.8 percent year on year. The seasonally adjusted estimate for new motor vehicle sales (93,379) increased by 3.6 percent compared to July 2012 and were up 6.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, passenger car sales in Australia totaled 46,356 units in August, decreasing by 0.5 percent as compared to the previous month and down 1.7 percent year on year.
