MMK plans to modernize coking production

Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has signed a memorandum of intent and mutual cooperation with China-based Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co (China) in order to implement the comprehensive reconstruction of MMK’s coking and by-product production.

The project involves the construction of coke oven battery complex No. 12, the reconstruction of a plant for capturing and processing chemical products, as well as the construction of a biochemical installation as part of MMK’s coking and by-product production.

The reconstruction of coking and by-product production is part of MMK’s program aimed at modernizing sintering/blast-furnace/coking production, the purpose of which, in accordance with the Company’s 2025 Strategy, is to increase the efficiency of first processing stage, reduce production costs and improve environmental safety.
