Metalloinvest issues Jan 2007 production results
The Russian steel and iron ore producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) has released its January 2007 production results. Accordingly, during the period in question Metalloinvest's iron ore segment, which consists of Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK, increased its iron ore concentrate production by five percent, its pellets production by 8.5 percent, its HBI production by four percent, its sintering ore production by 22 percent and its blast furnace ore production by 25 percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 3.3 million, 1.8 million, 92,400, 226,500 and 58,800. On the other hand, in January 2007 the company's steel division, which consists of OEMK and Ural Steel, was able to increase its production level. In particular, during the given period, OEMK and Ural Steel produced a combined total of 561,700 metric tons of crude steel – up six percent, and 433,600 metric tons of finished steel products – up eight percent compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
