Met coke imports in India down in June

According to customs data, India imported 1.32 million mt of met coke in the April-June 2018 period (referred to as Q1 fiscal year 2019). The figure was only slightly higher by 2 percent compared to the 1.30 million mt imported in the same period in calendar year 2017 (referred to as Q1 fiscal year 2018).

In June, India imported 0.41 million mt of met coke compared to 0.45 million mt in the same month the previous year, down 9 percent. Compared to the met coke imports in May of 0.52 million mt, June met coke imports declined 21 percent. In terms of prices, importers on average paid around $375-378/mt CFR India in June 2018 while the average price in the same month the previous year was approximately $265-270/mt CFR India, a difference of $108-110/mt.
