Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that its subsidiary Izhstal, a specialty steel and stainless long products manufacturer, sold nearly 113,000 mt of steel products in the first quarter of the current year, rising by 25 percent year on year. The sales revenues of the company in the same period increased by 28 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2017.

In the first quarter this year, Izhstal’s sales of commercial slabs, steel sections and long products increased by 45 percent, 41 percent and 20 percent, respectively, all on year-on-year basis.

In March alone, Izhstal increased sales of its steel products by 37 percent compared to March 2017.

Mechel stated that the positive dynamics of the plant’s output results in the first quarter was due to an increase in shipments to other Mechel Group facilities as part of intra-group cooperation and the expansion of the plant’s portfolio of third-party orders.
