Russia-based Mechel has announced that it has supplied rebar and structural shapes for construction of the Power of Siberia and Altai gas pipelines.

Mechel's products are used to produce ferroconcrete weights which are installed on pipes up to 1,420mm in diameter and are used to balance oil and gas pipelines when crossing over swamps, rivers and other water barriers, not allowing the pipes to float up to the surface.

Most of the steel products supplied were produced at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant.
