Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has announced the launch of new mining equipment at its subsidiary Yakutugol Holding Company’s Neryungrinsky coal mine. Investment for two new open-pit excavators, which are designed for work in difficult mining, geological and climatic conditions, totaled RUB 1.2 billion ($44.65 million).

The new excavators have been supplied by Russia-based machine-building company Ural Machine-building Corporation.

In the context of Neryungrinsky’s technical upgrade program, Mechel will buy two more excavators this year.
