Mechel eyes HBL Holding

The Russian mining and steel producing company Mechel is mulling the acquisition of Germany-based steel service center HBL Holding GmbH.

The proposal for the acquisition has been submitted by Mechel to German antimonopoly body Bundeskartellamt on August 28, 2008.

HBL Holding controls steel service centers.
