Mechel commissions new coke battery

The Russian steel producer Mechel has announced today, November 9, the commissioning of a new coke battery at its Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (CMP). Once the new coke battery's full capacity is achieved, CMP's coke output will rise by approximately 500,000 metric tons per annum. The project, which cost a total of $40 million, has been implemented in line with Mechel's target to strengthen its mining segment.
