Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland fall strongly in July

In July this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 130,800 metric tons, decreasing 7.7 percent compared to the previous month and down 53.3 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.

According to the released information, manganese ore shipments made from Port Hedland to Ukraine amounted to 73,500 metric tons in July. According to the port authority, no manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to Ukraine had been recorded in June this year, nor in July last year.

China was the second biggest export destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland in July. Manganese ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 57,300 metric tons in July, decreasing by 59.5 percent as compared to June and down 73.25 percent year on year.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
