Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has proposed that the state set aside $65 million of its annual construction budget to help fund a possible $2 billion Nucor pig iron plant.

Although Nucor has not yet made an official decision of where it will build the plant (other possible locations include Brazil), it is expected that the company will announce the site selection sometime this year.

The plant has the potential to employ 500 people, with an average salary of $75,000.  The construction budget should be filed in the House this week.
