Khorasan Steel to commission second DRI module in November

The second direct reduced iron (DRI) module of Iranian steelmaker Khorasan Steel will be commissioned in November this year. This first DRI module, which has an annual capacity of 800,000 metric tons, was commissioned in early 2010, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
 
The second DRI module, which is currently under construction, will also have an annual capacity of 800,000 mt.
 
While Khorasan Steel at present has an annual rolling capacity of 550,000 metric tons and a meltshop capacity of 630,000 metric tons per year, it has plans for the development of its existing meltshop as well as for the setting up of a new meltshop. The DRI modules in question will feed the company's existing and future meltshops.
