Kazakh utilization of Chinese quotas for steel imports (revised)

*** This article is corrected basis information received *** Separate from the safeguard measures implemented by China being effective from May 24, 2002, Kazakhstan signed a bilateral agreement with this country allowing imports of certain tonnages of steel from Kazakhstan into China. Under the quotas of this bilateral agreement, tonnages allowed are already full for the below mentioned products:
- hot rolled steel coils    3mm <= T < 4.75mm
- hot rolled steel sheet    3mm <= T < 4.75mm
Some sources do speculate about the hot rolled plate, cold rolled sheet, tinplate, slab quotas being full as well but such news have not been confirmed, yet. To see the detailed list of allowed tonnages of products under the quotas please click here.
