Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir has announced that it has started producing and selling grade 4140 wire rod for the automotive and defense industries, expanding its value-added product range.
Grade 4140 wire rod is used in the production of several corrosion-resistant parts for the automotive, defense and machine manufacturing sectors. Dr. Hüseyin Soykan, general director of Kardemir, said that, with the production of this new type of steel, Kardemir aims to contribute to the efforts to promote the consumption of local products primarily in the defense and automotive sectors, by limiting imports.
Dr. Soykan also underlined that grade 4140 wire rod production in Turkey is limited, adding, “By carrying out interviews with the relevant public institutions and private institutions, we are gaining information about their needs and expectations, while trying to accelerate our innovative operations and to improve our engineering and programming skills. Thanks to our efforts, we have offered the market lots of high value-added products, which will help us increase our competitiveness. While we continue creating value for our shareholders, we also aim to keep contributing to the export activities of our country.”
