June building permits move up in Canada following May surge

Statistics Canada reported Friday that building permits in Canada rose 2.1 percent from May to June to $6.6 billion. In May, building permits swelled 20.9 percent from April.

In the non-residential sector, the value of building permits rose 3 percent in June, following a 51.1 percent increase in May. As for residential construction permits were up 1.5 percent in May after climbing 5.2 percent from April to May.
