Sajjan Jindal-owned JSW Steel, one of India's largest steelmakers, plans to sell more than half of its total production through its retail chain outlets in the next two years.

"We aim to sell over 50 percent of our total production through our retail chain in the next two years," said JSW Steel's whole-time director Jayant Acharya.

As SteelOrbis previously reported , the company has announced a plan to boost the number of outlets of its retail chain, JSW Shoppe, to 250 by the end of the current fiscal year from the existing 50, increasing further to 600 in FY 2011. These will be located mainly in semi-urban and rural areas.

The increase in the number of retail chain outlets is expected to help the company to increase sales in the semi-urban and rural markets.

JSW Steel currently sells all its coated products in the domestic market through its retail channel.
