On October 14, Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel said that it has concluded an agreement with German steel producer Georgsmarienhütte Holding GmbH (GMH Holding) concerning technical collaboration on steel products, mainly focused on steel bars to be used in the energy field, typically for wind power.

Accordingly, against a background of growing utilization and development in recent years of CO2 emission-free natural energies, a substantial increase is foreseen in the demand for new energies such as wind power. GMH Holding owns several companies who are involved in wind power generation and these companies have high technical capabilities for manufacturing of materials for bearings, etc.

JFE Steel and GMH Holding aim to supply high quality steel products such as steel bars and related services by further improving mutual technical capabilities through the new collaboration agreement which has been signed and also by firmly securing the demand in the new energy field.
