Japanese steelmakers JFE Steel Corporation and Metal One have been appointed as the sole suppliers of line pipe for the Dampier to Bunbury gas link. Under the contract, JFE Steel and Metal One will supply approximately 82,000 metric tons (including an optional 20,000 metric tons) of line pipe. The supply of line pipe will commence from October. The 1,596-kilometer Dampier pipeline is the longest in Western Australia and transports gas from fields off Australia's northwest coast to customers in the state's southwest.
