Japan's galvanized sheet output up 2.23 percent in Jan-Oct

In the first 10 months of this year, Japan's galvanized sheet output amounted to 10.07 million mt, up 2.23 percent compared to same period of 2012. In October, the country's galvanized sheet output decreased by 1.73 percent compared to September and was up 5.62 percent year on year, amounting to 1.03 million mt, according to data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).

In the first 10 months of this year, Japan's galvanized sheet shipments decreased by 2.16 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The country's galvanized sheet shipments amounted to 9.86 million metric tons, while 69.32 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, and the remaining 30.68 percent were made to the export markets.
In October this year, Japan's galvanized sheet shipments amounted to 1 million mt, increasing by 0.71 percent compared to September, and down 2.68 percent from the same month of last year.

Meanwhile, in October Japan's galvanized sheet inventories fell 4.72 percent month on month at 977,827 metric tons, and were up 2.34 percent year on year. 68.61 percent of inventories were held by steel manufacturers, while 31.39 percent were held by steel traders.
