According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's flat rolled stainless steel exports totaled 29,875 metric tons in August this year, falling by 16.89 percent month on month and up 17.79 percent compared to August 2010.
In August, Japan's flat rolled stainless steel exports to China decreased 58 percent from July levels to 3,261 metric tons, while a rise of 67.11 percent was registered compared to August 2010. South Korea imported 18,689 mt of flat rolled stainless steel from Japan in August this year, up 24.5 percent month on month and up 51.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the January-August period of 2011, Japan's flat rolled stainless steel exports amounted to 288,980 metric tons, increasing by 0.9 percent year on year.
In the first eight months of this year, Japanese flat rolled stainless steel exports to China totaled 57,611 metric tons, while exports to South Korea amounted to 124,212 metric tons, increasing by 17.56 percent and up 0.95 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
