Izmir Demir Çelik (IDC) upgrades billet caster

Turkish rebar producer Izmir Demir Çelik (IDC) began an upgrade program for its 750,000 mtons/year billet caster, sources report. The goal behind this modernization move is to improve on the quality of its products while increasing capacity to 800,000/mtons a year. The restructuring work will be done by Concast this summer when the caster is to be shut down. Projected startup is scheduled for September 2002.
