Italy's longs & flats output figures rise in Jan-May

For the first five months of the current year, Italy registered increases in its production figures for both long and flat steel products, according to the latest data issued by Federacciai (association of Italian steel industry enterprises).

During the January-May 2007 period, Italian steel mills recorded a total output of 7.84 million mt of long products - up 9.1 percent on the same period last year, while they produced 6.58 million mt of flats - up 10.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, for the first six months of 2007, total Italian steel output reached 16.59 million mt, up 2.4 percent compared to January-June 2006.
