Italy’s crude steel output rises by 42 percent in May

According to the figures released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in May this year Italian crude steel output totaled 2.47 million metric tons, increasing by 42 percent year on year and rising by five percent compared to April.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2010 the country's crude steel production stood at 11.27 million metric tons, rising by 37.8 percent compared to the same period of 2009.
 
Federacciai has also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for April this year.
 
Accordingly, in the fourth month of this year Italy's long steel output rose by 13.6 percent year on year and decreased by 2.1 percent month on month, reaching 1.12 million metric tons.
On the other hand, in April the country's flat steel output reached 1.20 million metric tons, up 120.1 percent year on year and up 5.6 percent month on month.
