Italy’s crude steel output rises by 20 percent in September

According to the figures released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in September this year Italian crude steel output rose by 19.8 percent year on year, reaching 2.33 million metric tons. Italian mills produced 19.09 million metric tons of crude steel in the first nine months of 2010, up 34.3 percent compared to the same period of 2009.

Federacciai also released Italy's long and flat steel output data for August this year. Accordingly, in August Italy's long steel output was up 12.4 percent year on year to 291,000 metric tons. On the other hand, in the month in question the country's flat steel output amounted to 597,000 metric tons, increasing by 7.6 percent year on year.
