Italian steelmakers drop down in domestic industry rankings for 2009

According to a report issued by Italian bank Mediobanca, in 2009 Italian steel producers dropped down in the rankings of Italian companies in terms of sales revenues.   

Italian steelmaker Riva Group's sales revenues ranked 14th among Italian enterprises in 2009, down from 10th in 2008, while it posted a net loss of €548 million in 2009. Meanwhile, Marcegaglia Group's sales revenues in 2009 declined by 40 percent year on year, dropping 19 places to 48th, with its net profit equal to just 0.6 percent of its sales revenues.
