Iron ore exports via Port Hedland down eight percent in July from June

In July this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland decreased by 7.96 percent compared to June and were down by 2.15 percent year on year, totaling 35.31 million metric tons. 
 
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in July of the current year iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 29.48 million metric tons, decreasing by 9.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 3.6 percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in July, receiving 2.88 million mt and 1.89 million mt respectively. 
 
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
