Iron ore exports via Port Hedland down 13.9 percent in July from June

In July this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland decreased by 13.9 percent compared to June and were up 7.4 percent year on year, totaling 40.69 million metric tons.

According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, in July iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 32.38 million metric tons, declining by 18.4 percent compared to the previous month and increasing by 1.1 percent year on year. South Korea and Japan followed China in July, receiving 3.97 million mt and 2.12 million mt respectively.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
