In November this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland increased 12.24 percent year on year and were down 7.64 percent month on month, totaling 15.71 million metric tons, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.
According to the released information, iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 11.85 million metric tons in November, increasing by 22.4 percent year on year and were up 4.02 percent as compared to October. Japan was the second largest export destination for iron ore shipments from Port Hedland in November, with shipments totaling 1.91 million metric tons - up 25.37 percent year on year and down by 19.78 percent over October. South Korea imported 944,900 metric tons of iron ore from Port Hedland in November, decreasing by 46.9 percent year on year and down 55.94 percent month on month.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Iron in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
