According to Mr. Hasanzadeh, the head of Iran's Mines and Industry Organization for Khuzestan Province, during the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2007- February 20, 2008), four Iranian steel producers - Khuzestan Steel Company, Iran National Industrial Group, Ahvaz Navardoluleh and Kavian Steel Company - saw an approximate 20 percent year on year increase in their steel production.
In particular, during the period in question, Khuzestan Steel Company produced about 2.85 million metric tons of various steel products. Meanwhile, the company exported about 480,000 metric tons of steel products to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Syria.
